Ganesha Chaturthi is the Hindu festival held on the birthday of the lord Ganesha. He is the son of Shiva and Parvati. It is celebrated all over India.The festival is held on shukla chaturthi in the Hindu month of Bhaadrapada and ends on Anant chaturdashi.
When is Ganesh Chaturthi in 2020, 2021 and 2022?
The date of Ganesh Chaturthi falls on the fourth day of the waxing moon period (Shukla Chaturthi) in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada. This is August or September each year. The festival is celebrated for 10 days according to the Hindu lunar calendar, with the biggest spectacle taking place on the last day called Anant Chaturdashi.
- In 2020, Ganesh Chaturthi is on August 22. Anant Chaturdashi is on September 1.
- In 2021, Ganesh Chaturthi is on September 10. Anant Chaturdashi is on September 19.
- In 2022, Ganesh Chaturthi is on August 31. Anant Chaturdashi is on September 9.
Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of Ganesha to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati/Gauri. The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesha clay idols privately in homes, or publicly on elaborate pandals.
It is celebrated widely in maharashtra.On this occasion women make special "modaks" which are loved by Lord Ganesha. Lalbaug is a place that every year celebrates ganesh chaturthi on a large scale. There are ganesha's form like Bal Ganesh, Lalbaugchya Raja, Siddhivinayak Maharaj and Dhagru Sheth. Out of these, most popular are Dhagru sheth and Lalbaugchya Raja.
